Ludtke v. Kuhn (1978)

Charge: Equal protection (sex discrimination) - accredited woman reporter barred from the team clubhouse at a city-owned stadium (suit against the Commissioner of Baseball, the club and city officials)Court: U.S. District Court, Southern District of New YorkDocket: The Front Office

Did barring an accredited woman sportswriter from a city-owned stadium's clubhouse, while admitting male reporters, violate equal protection?

The facts

A national sports magazine assigned a woman reporter to cover the World Series. Male reporters were allowed into the clubhouse after games to interview players, but league policy kept her out. The stadium was owned by the city and leased to the club. She and her publisher sued, saying she could not compete with male colleagues on deadline. The league said its policy protected players' privacy and family image.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
