Who Was Watching the Lot

Stow v. Los Angeles Dodgers (2014)

Charge: Negligent security - fan beaten in the stadium parking lot (suit against the club and its then-owner)Court: Superior Court of California, County of Los AngelesDocket: Foul Territory

Was the club liable for failing to provide adequate security in its parking lot?

The facts

A visiting fan was beaten into permanent brain damage by two home-team fans in a stadium parking lot after a heated rivalry game. The attackers went to prison. The victim's family then sued the home club and its owner, arguing that security that night was too thin, lighting in the lot was poor, and heavy drinking was tolerated at a game everyone knew would be tense. The club argued that the attackers alone were responsible for a sudden criminal act.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
