Multiplayer Party Trial
Real Cases · Your Verdict · Overruled? Drink!
Every docket is part of the LAWGAMES Play Pass
Pass holders pick any docket when they commence Court
Sober As A Judge is a courtroom party game you play on your own phones. One player opens court, everyone else joins with a code, and the group hears a real American criminal case — the facts as the court had them, the charge, and what the prosecution had to prove. Each player renders a verdict. Then the actual decision is revealed. Anyone the court overrules drinks.
Every case is a real, reported decision with a primary-source citation. There are no invented scenarios and no trick questions: the same facts a judge or jury weighed are the facts you get. Party names and the case title stay hidden until the reveal, so nobody can look it up mid-trial.
The host commences court and picks a docket. The court reads the case aloud from the host's phone while everyone follows on their own. Players vote GUILTY or NOT GUILTY before the timer runs out. The court's ruling appears with a one-paragraph explanation of why it went that way — useful ammunition for the argument that follows. The host can close court early at any point.
The chocolate-milk edition uses real, family-appropriate cases with the same reveal mechanic and no drinking rule. It suits classrooms, road trips and anyone who wants the trial without the bar tab.
Law students who want to test their instincts against actual outcomes. Lawyers who want to lose an argument to a friend for once. Anyone who has ever shouted at a true-crime documentary. The game is free to play; premium themed dockets — murder, firearms, white collar, by state — are available through the LAWGAMES Play Pass.
Sober As A Judge is part of LAWGAMES, alongside GUILTY or NOT?, the daily true-crime puzzle. Browse the case library for the facts of the real cases in the game, and read the full rules before you play. Adults only for the standard edition. Judge responsibly and never drink and drive.
