A Singer's Son Taken
Amsler v. United States (1967)
Charge: Kidnapping and interstate transportation for ransom, and transmitting ransom demandsCourt: U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth CircuitState: CaliforniaDocket: Ransom
The facts
Three men took a young singer from a hotel room at a lake resort and held him in a house in the suburbs. His family paid two hundred and forty thousand dollars and he was let go. At trial the men did not really deny taking him. They said he had agreed to the whole thing himself, as a stunt to get his name in the newspapers. So the jury had to decide whether he had truly consented.
You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
