The facts
A 22-year-old man was arrested for the fatal shooting of his brother-in-law. Police told him another suspect had named him as the shooter. At the station he asked again and again to see his lawyer. His lawyer came and asked to see him, but police said no. No one told him he could stay silent. Brought face to face with the other suspect, he said, 'I didn't shoot him, you did it.' His statements were used at his trial.
