The Midday Store Robbery

Goldsby v. United States (1895)

Charge: MurderCourt: U.S. Supreme CourtState: ArkansasDocket: Frontier Justice

The facts

At noon one day, two men robbed a store in the Indian Territory. During the robbery a bystander was shot and killed. The accused, a young outlaw, was charged with the murder in federal court. His defence was an alibi. He said he was many miles away and could not have reached the store in time by the public roads. The government answered with evidence about a wire cutter, suggesting he cut fences and rode across country. The accused also complained that the judge refused him more time and more witnesses.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
