Charge: MurderCourt: Texas Court of AppealsState: TexasDocket: Frontier Justice
The facts
A deputy sheriff from a nearby county came to town. The accused, a well-known gunman, was there with friends. The deputy was a stranger to him. The deputy said he did not know who the accused was. The accused announced his name and said people called him a desperado. Moments later the deputy was shot dead. The accused fled the state and was caught three years later. At trial the accused asked the jury to consider self-defence. The state said the killing was planned with his companions.
