Jenkins v. Georgia (1974)

Charge: Distributing obscene material (showing a film)Court: U.S. Supreme CourtState: GeorgiaDocket: Banned

The facts

A cinema manager showed a well-known Hollywood film about two college friends and their sex lives over the years. The film has some nudity and scenes where sex is understood to be happening, but the camera does not focus on the actors' bodies and no genitals are shown. Local authorities charged the manager with distributing obscene material. A jury convicted him and the state's top court upheld it. The law only allows punishment for material that depicts hard-core sexual conduct in a patently offensive way.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
