Bodies in the Trunks
Judd v. State (1932)
Charge: First-degree murderCourt: Supreme Court of ArizonaState: ArizonaDocket: Insanity on Trial
The facts
A young woman who works at a medical clinic is charged with first-degree murder. Two women she knew were shot dead in their apartment; neighbours heard gunshots. The bodies were packed into trunks and a suitcase and shipped to another city, where they were found. One had been cut up. A pistol and surgical tools turned up in a hat box. Afterwards she telephoned people pretending to be one of the dead women. Her main defence is insanity. She does not testify but calls witnesses about her mental state. She also asks for a self-defence instruction.
You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
