The Aide And The Caller
People v. Barraza (1979)
Charge: Two counts of selling heroinCourt: Supreme Court of CaliforniaState: CaliforniaDocket: Set Up
The facts
A man worked as a patient-care aide at a drug detox centre. An undercover officer telephoned him again and again over about three weeks, asking for help to buy heroin. He put the officer off. The calls continued. At a later meeting the officer talked with him at length, then asked him to write a note that would let the officer obtain heroin from a patient. Two sales followed. He says the pressure, not any criminal bent of his own, produced the crime.
You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
