The Producer's Foyer
People v. Spector (2011)
Charge: Second-degree murder with firearm enhancementsCourt: California Court of Appeal, Second District (from Los Angeles County Superior Court)State: CaliforniaDocket: Trial of the Century
The facts
A music producer met a woman at a nightclub and invited her back to his mansion late at night. Hours later she was found dead in a chair in his foyer, shot once in the head, a revolver lying under her leg. He says she shot herself, by suicide or by accident. The prosecution relies on forensic evidence and on five other women who say that, over twenty years, he had pulled guns on them when they tried to leave his company. A first jury could not agree on a verdict.
