The Man at the Clinic

Sherman v. United States (1958)

Charge: Sale of narcoticsCourt: Supreme Court of the United StatesState: New YorkDocket: Night Session

The facts

A man being treated for drug addiction met another patient at his doctor's office. The other patient said his treatment was not working and asked the man to help him find drugs. The man tried to avoid the subject. Only after repeated pleas about the other's suffering did he give in. He bought small amounts, split them, and shared them at cost. The other patient was in fact a government informer. Agents then watched three sales and charged the man. He had drug convictions from nine and five years earlier.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
