State v. Avery (2011)

Charge: First-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, felon in possession of a firearmCourt: Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District II (from Manitowoc County Circuit Court)State: WisconsinDocket: Trial of the Century

The facts

A young photographer drove to a salvage yard to photograph a vehicle for sale. She was never seen alive again. Her vehicle was later found on the property. Burned bone fragments carrying her DNA lay near a burn pit. Her blood was inside her vehicle. A key to it, carrying the accused's DNA, turned up in his bedroom. A bullet linked to a rifle in his home carried her DNA. The accused, who lived at the yard, says the searches of his home were unlawful and that someone else could have killed her.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
