The facts
A crew broke into a suburban bank branch over a weekend and forced open safe deposit boxes, taking gold coins and other valuables. Investigators found fingerprints on flashlight batteries left behind, and a hammer that matched the marks on the broken boxes. Gloves and footprints tied the men to the scene. About thirty thousand dollars in cash turned up in a garment bag, and nearly a hundred thousand more was dug up near one man's home. The men attacked how that evidence was gathered.
