The Plot Against the Governor
United States v. Fox (2025)
Charge: Conspiracy to kidnap a governor and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destructionCourt: U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth CircuitState: MichiganDocket: True Believers
The facts
Members of an armed militia were accused of planning to seize a state governor from her lakeside holiday home. They scouted the home several times, trained at field exercises, and built a mock-up to practise an assault. They ordered explosives to blow up a bridge and slow police. An informant and undercover agents were inside the group, and one agent posed as an explosives seller. The accused said government agents talked them into it. That defence fails if they were already willing beforehand.
