Charge: Willful transmission of national defense informationCourt: U.S. District Court, E.D. Va.State: VirginiaDocket: State Secrets
The facts
A counterterrorism analyst at a military intelligence agency held a top secret clearance for about twenty months. Prosecutors said that in that time he told one journalist top secret national defence information on twelve occasions, and secret information at least four times more. He had lived at the same address as that journalist for most of a year, and the two followed each other on social media. He was also said to have sent classified counterterrorism material to a consultant overseas.
