A California sports agent was accused of organizing speedboat trips to bring Cuban baseball players to Florida. A first attempt in July 2004 was stopped by the Coast Guard. A second trip in August 2004 landed a group at Big Pine Key. Prosecutors said he planned to represent the players and profit from their contracts. He said he was helping people escape to freedom.
