Charge: Conspiracy, obstruction of justice and perjuryCourt: U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (on appeal from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia)State: District of ColumbiaDocket: All the President's Men

The facts

The president's White House chief of staff was accused of joining a plan to conceal his own side's role in a break-in at the opposing party's national headquarters. Prosecutors said he had White House files cleaned of material about the secret intelligence operation behind the break-in, backed a public statement denying any campaign link to the men caught inside, and then gave false answers under oath about what he knew. The chief witness against him was a former White House lawyer who had taken part in the same meetings.
