The Sprinter's Denials

United States v. Jones (2007)

Charge: Making false statements to federal agents (two counts)Court: U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (White Plains)State: New YorkDocket: Cover-Up

The facts

A track athlete was interviewed by federal agents in two separate investigations. In the first, agents asked about a designer drug from a sports laboratory. She said she had never seen or taken it, had not got it from her coach, and had never used any performance-enhancing drug. In the second, agents asked about large cheques linked to a man she knew, one of them counterfeit. She said she knew nothing about them, even one she had signed. Prosecutors say both answers were knowingly false. Lying to federal agents is a crime without any oath.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
