The facts

A commercial fishing boat was working about twenty miles offshore with a captain and two crew aboard. Late in the evening one of the crew shot the captain in the chest with a pellet rifle. He then stabbed him twice. The wounds bled heavily at once. The boat was well out of sight of land, with nobody aboard but the three of them, and the captain survived.
