The Operation And The Reporter

United States v. Sterling (2015)

Charge: Unauthorized disclosure of national defense information and obstruction of justiceCourt: U.S. District Court, E.D. Va.State: VirginiaDocket: State Secrets

The facts

A former officer of a national intelligence service had spent about eighteen months working on a secret operation aimed at a foreign country's nuclear weapons programme. He later brought claims against the service, which refused to settle them on his terms. Prosecutors said that afterwards he telephoned and emailed a national newspaper reporter and sent him material about that operation. The reporter published it in a book three years later. He was also accused of deleting emails to frustrate a grand jury.

You have the facts the court had. Guilty or not guilty? Call it in the game with your friends, then see what the court actually decided. Wrong call, you drink.
